Description

Sudha Rapp, 73, is a world traveler and a luxury retail salesperson. The interview includes discussion of the fact that her family lived in the Middle East during her early life, but moved to India from the time she was age 8 to 20. After marrying an American who was in India with the Peace Corps, she frequently moved with her young daughter--living in Oregon, Washington D.C., India, and Thailand. She discusses the ups and downs of her three marriages, living in England for several years, and eventually settling in Chicago. A real turning point for Sudha happened when she began her successful career in luxury retail sales, establishing financial and personal independence for the first time. When asked how she maintains connection to her India heritage, she says she loved to attend concerts featuring Indian musicians, watches movies, magazines, and acquaintances on Devon Street, Chicago, Illinois. She talks of her mixed-race children and grandchildren.
